Solid jadeite jade mask, with inclusions of red jasper (eyes) and shell (eye’s white part, and tongue). This magnificent piece was originally carved in the ancient city of “Rio Azul” in northern Guatemala; and features a beautiful “Kinich Ahau” (Sun God) face, and an exquisite sample of glyphic writting in the back part. Mayan art enthusiastics have been fascinated for years with this piece, since it is one of the very few solid stone masks found in the mayan region .
