Arroyo Pesquero Mask

Discovered in 1969 in the Arroyo Pesquero, Veracruz, Mexico region. It is made from a solid block of white gray jadeite jade that dates from 900 to 300 B.C. Discovered along with a vast amount of Olmec pieces, it shows tattoos and ornaments on the face that represented religious or politics attributes or to identify its lineage. Today it is part of a private collection in the U.S.A.
